The new Ghost Recon will be free 2 play, the first part is temporarily free

Although the July announcement of the upcoming free 2 play shooter xDefiant from the world of The Division caused more ridicule (see our article), Ubisoft is not giving up and intends to continue to use the license in the name of writer Tom Clancy in unexpected ways. The established series of Ghost Recon war shooters will soon have a purely multiplayer form (you can read about its rich history in our detailed article). However, the newly announced part with the subtitle Frontline will be completely different from what its fans are still used to. It will be a purely multiplayer battle royale for up to 102 players at once, which will be available for download completely free of charge.

Fortunately, the developers are fully aware of the current overcrowding in this genre and thus promise many changes. First of all, we don’t find the classic mechanics of an ever-shrinking territory here, moreover, they don’t want to give up even quite high realism (at least in comparison with other mainstream brands). The key to success will be communication within three-member teams.

Except battle royale (here called Expedition) At the time of release, other game modes with far more straightforward action should be available. If this “rebrand” ends in a huge success like Rainbow Six: Siege or a fiasco like Hyperscape we’ll know on October 14, when a playable beta will be available. However, entry will only be by invitation, if you are interested, try your luck and sign up here.

The original Ghost Recon from 2001 no longer looks its best today.

If this concept is too wild for you, you may want to thank the first part of the series, which is currently available for PC gamers for free on this link. All you need to activate it is an account on the Ubisoft Connect platform. But beware, from today’s point of view, the game is not only really ugly, but also extremely difficult. However, if by chance it still seems small to you, you can download the extensive update, which the avid fan has been working on for 16 years (see our article).
