Coal Stocks Are Angry, Analyst: Installments Sell First Bro-Sis…

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The electricity crisis hit countries in the world, from Europe to China and India. This is due to the increase in the price of coal supply when the supply is running low.

In the midst of this energy crisis sentiment, is now the right time for investors in the Indonesian capital market to look at the stocks of energy issuers?

Dimas W Pratama, analyst at PT NH Korindo Sekuritas, said that there was indeed an increase in coal prices which began to creep up from March to April and continued until this month in the midst of the world energy crisis.

In addition, coal prices will also wait for data on manufacturing expansion.

“If you look at the data from China and the United States, they are positive, meaning that there is an increase manufacturing and production. This definitely requires energy. In Europe, demand increases because they lack gas supply, thus making the government switch to using coal again. This is what increases coal stocks,” he said, in the CNBC Indonesia InvesTime program, Tuesday night (5/10/2021).

“The movement only occurred significantly at the end of last September. If we look at the commodity prices, they are now around US$ 280 per tonne, this is actually quite high,” he said.

“So for investors who already have energy stocks from the end of last September, they should start selling in installments to secure the profits that have been obtained,” he said.

On the other hand, Dimas said investors need to observe the development of other sectors, namely oil and gas which has the potential to strengthen prices in the future.

“For now, the rotation of commodity stocks until the end of the year may shift slightly from coal, perhaps to oil and gas, CPO and metal, as well as gas,” he said.

“Friends, pay attention to switching to other commodity stocks besides coal, which are moving in the JCI until the end of the year,” he continued.

According to Dimas, stocks of coal commodities are currently on the rise, but investors are not advised to enter them because it is too late when coal stock prices rise.

“So friends who don’t have one should not need to enter coal stocks, but you can switching to stocks in other energy sectors,” he said.
