Gamers who want to get started with Battlefield 2042 can download the beta of the game from today, so that they can get started right away on Friday.
Those wishing to participate in the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta may encounter some glitches when trying to preload it on the EA Desktop app, PlayStation, or Xbox.
Previously there was a problem with the preload on Origin, but this has been fixed by DICE. Apparently players couldn’t see the open beta in their library after clicking ‘Try it now’. Again, this has been fixed, but there are a few things to keep in mind before downloading it on PlayStation or Xbox systems.
Some users report that on PlayStation, the open beta is not showing up in their region on the PlayStation Store. In this case, DICE said to just wait quietly for it to eventually come out.
Two open betas will be shown in-store on Xbox systems. This is because users are seeing both Gen 4 (Xbox One) and Gen 5 (Xbox Series X/S). The Gen 4 installation will show as approximately 9 GB and the Gen 5 installation will show as approximately 17 GB. You just need to make sure you download the correct version for your Xbox.
The problem with the EA Desktop app is that it shows that the open beta is not available for download. DICE is investigating this, but in the meantime you can download it on Origin or Steam so you have the files ready to use.
So far the team has been able to fix it where those with an EA Play subscription now have the option to preload the beta. The team continues to strive for all players using the EA Desktop app to be able to take advantage of the pre-load.
The beta of Battlefield 2042 begins tomorrow, October 6, for those who pre-ordered the game. It starts Friday, October 8 for everyone else on all platforms. The beta ends on October 9.
This includes Conquest on the Orbital map and gives you access to four of the game’s specialists: Boris, Casper, Falck and Mackay.
If you’re planning to participate in the PC version of the beta, or just play the game in general at release, you can click here the specifications to look at.
Battlefield 2042 will be released on November 19.
