Last weekend, a horrific incident occurred in the regional Brazilian division. SC Sao Paulo player William Ribeiro could not agree with referee Rodrigo Crivellaro and vented his frustration by punching the leader and then kicking him in the head as well. At that point, Crivellaro was already on the ground and unable to defend himself.
The footballer is already charged in Brazil with attempted murder and can face a long prison sentence. The incident would have been caused by whether or not a throw-in was awarded.
