DAAD Prize for Young Violist – hmt ||

The hmt Rostock awards this year’s DAAD Prize to the violist Urszula Abramczuk. She is honored for her outstanding artistic achievements, but also for her social commitment. The award ceremony will take place on October 7, 2021 as part of the general assembly and matriculation ceremony in the Katharinensaal.

Urszula Abramczuk has been studying viola with Professor Piotr Szumieł in the master’s program since 2020. The young Polish woman was already involved in “Musaik – Grenzenlos musiziert eV”, a social music project in Dresden that tries to support and integrate children and young people, even during her bachelor’s degree in Dresden. Among other things, she worked as a substitute for viola at the Dresden State Operetta, made music in 2020 at the commemorative event for the 50th anniversary of Ingolf Dahl’s death and was awarded at the state viola competitions in Szczecin and Wroclaw.

The DAAD Prize has been awarded for excellent performance by foreign students at German universities for over 10 years and is endowed with € 1,000 per university. The award made available by the German Academic Exchange Service is intended to support foreign students in acting as “ambassadors” to their home and host countries.
