According to local residents, three people got into a fight on Tuesday afternoon. It may be people from the drug environment. One of them, the 33-year-old victim, was eventually stabbed near Hendrik Conscience primary school. The police arrested two people a short time later. More than likely it concerns the suspects of the stabbing. Although one does not want to say that in so many words. “Two people have been arrested in connection with the facts,” said Commissioner Kris Allary of the Ostend police. “But whether they will also come forward as suspects will have to be determined by the investigation.” (Read more below the photo, ed.)

That investigation started immediately. Several police officers arrived on the scene and the street was closed to traffic. Police established a perimeter around the crime scene and the significant blood trail. The lab of the federal police was asked to carry out a trace investigation on the spot.

Meanwhile, other officers visited local residents as part of a neighborhood investigation. The people involved would therefore not live far from the crime scene. A dozen police officers also stayed at a terraced house a short distance away. However, it is not yet clear whether the victim or one of the perpetrators live there. (Read more below the photo, ed.)

The Bruges public prosecutor’s office was also informed. But it is also too early for them to communicate the facts in detail. “We can say that the victim is in critical condition. But for the rest, the investigation is still in full swing.”
