Harry has already mentioned the ‘parades of fans’ in front of the door ‘wishful thinking of Mr. Meiland’. He must have missed the fans who are filming in front of the villa gate and shouting ‘wines, wines, wines’. Martien therefore cannot resist putting the presenter in his place, because apparently nothing is true of his statements.
“But also Harry Mens, who lives around the corner from us”, begins the former lord of the castle. “He will then say: listen, it’s not that bad. No fans at all. Well, we had a walking dinner with the neighbors in the street and then I said: we are leaving. And they all said: understand that us completely.”

The house in Noordwijk was already labeled a ‘bad buy’ on the day before the move and turned out to be that. “We have people coming in the car all day long and then filming,” explains Erica. “And then people by bicycle. Groups with scooters. People who ring the bell, they want to be photographed.” Martien adds: “I don’t mind being photographed a hundred times in the Hoofdstraat in Noordwijk, but when I’m in my house I just want privacy.”
Maxime is surprised that her parents have lasted so long in the house. “If you’re out in the open it’s okay [om op de foto te gaan]. I also like that people like us so much and enjoy the program. That’s one thing. But in your house you don’t want to feel like you have to make up and get dressed all the time.”
