It is another in a relatively long line of operating systems that the company from the American Redmond company introduced during its existence. Windows is the most widely used personal computer operating system in the world. They are now active in 1.3 billion devices worldwide. The company is likely to end support for the current version of Windows 10 in June 2025.
Compared to earlier versions of the system, the eleven are significantly more visually appealing. But one thing may surprise the user, because the Start button has disappeared from its traditional left corner of the bottom of the screen and moved to the center of the new bar, but can be configured as needed. The system also offers a new Microsoft Store, new inbox applications, and a new notification center.
According to Technet.cz editor Václav Nývlt, the graphic change is so significant that Microsoft had to proceed with the release of a new version of the system and it was not only possible to update the existing Windows 10. “The user will notice the visual cover, but it’s still Windows, so the user spends an hour looking around, so he won’t be confused, “says Nývlt.
“Windows 11 isn’t much more system-intensive, but it does have a relatively limited range of processors to run on, so computers older than five are more or less out of the game. For security reasons, it uses certain elements of virtualization that not every part of the hardware of older computers can handle, ”describes Nývlt.
According to him, work with multiple monitors is much improved in the new Windows, work with multiple windows on one desktop or work in the Microsoft cloud interface is better done. “I didn’t come up with anything that I would fundamentally miss there and I couldn’t replace it with something else,” Nývlt comments on the changes in functions.

Thirty-six years on the market
Microsoft introduced the first Windows in 1985. Ten years later, with Windows 95, it offered the now-famous Start button, which opened a menu of basic programs for the user. In 2001, a business mega-success came in the form of the XP system. It has become the most used operating system for many years.
But in the meantime, Vista has arrived. A 2006 system that lay in the stomach of many people due to cost, incompatibility with previous programs, and high demands on computer technology. And it has become a marketing and sales disaster for the company. The reputation was corrected by the “sevens”, which were supposed to work on cheaper notebooks and against their predecessor promised a faster system startup and a friendlier user environment.
Three years after its launch, the “sevens” became the most widely used system when they finally replaced the XP system. So now the version is four numbers higher and its ambition is to replace Windows 10, which holds about eighty percent of the market.
