Harsh Goenka often shares interesting facts and figures on a wide range of topics or people and many of them often lead to interesting discussions on social media. In a similar vein, a post recently retweeted by the businessman drew mixed reactions from netizens. The post, initially shared by an evangelist named Vala Afshar in July, shared data on highly skilled migrants around the world working and residing in various OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries.
The OECD is an intergovernmental economic organization with 38 countries among its members. Afshar data showed that with 3.12 million Indians are at the top of the list. And while Mr. Goenka’s intention was purely to highlight how Indians were leading in this area, many netizens saw it in a different light.
Many have commented on how damaging this actually is to India’s progress as more and more people leave the country due to lack of jobs and better opportunities in their own country. Check out some comments:
Isn’t that damaging? Our more educated had to seek greener pastures? Isn’t that an indication that we are unable to provide them with productive opportunities? I guess this “brain drain” has stalled between the two. – Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal (@ sanjayjaiswal51) October 3, 2021

Indeed in advance? How to come ??
Doesn’t that also mean that more migrations are taking place at this level as well ???
Which means less options available at home !!!

This only illustrates how the best are treated in India! If India offers a good opportunity and they all come back, that’s something to say – Shankar (@ Shankar17399168) October 3, 2021

Sir, it is disheartening that the students of the vishwaguru nation are migrating to study and not the teachers. Hope charity investments are made in higher education in India and people from OECD come to India to study

It is a pity that the Indian government and companies cannot hold them in our own country. These migrants include IITians, MBBS doctors on whom the government has invested a large chunk of taxpayer money. – Arpit Kulshreshtha (@kulshreshthaarp) October 3, 2021

It’s a shame that we leave our brightest to others. It’s a shame that we have an imbalanced education system in place, priorities in place, corrupt mechanisms in place that the brightest have to migrate. And migration has become aggressive in recent years.— KTrehan (@trehankaran) October 3, 2021

Study in India and develop an already developed nation. The system is weird. – Shibi Payamal (@ShibiPayamal) October 3, 2021

While people’s concerns are genuine, a big change can happen if job opportunities are expanded in the country as much as talent is produced.
