LakeEquality office in the City of La Roda presented this morning at a press conference ‘Fest LR Rural Women 2021’ to be held on day 9 October in Castelar street to commemorate the International Day of Rural Women (day 15).

It’s about a music festival where women will be the architects and protagonists of an afternoon of live music, with the participation of the musical group Vulva Loo and Djs Mer Shiner and Cyn Mar. All of them will perform in Castelar street from 1:00 p.m. on October 9.

The Councilor for Equality, María José Fernández, recalled that rural women “We are more than a third of the world’s population and almost half of the agricultural labor force”, being in Spain more than seven million women “who constitute ourselves as a fundamental piece for the development of the economy that surrounds us.”

The head of this municipal department added that women from rural areas “We have experienced a great change” in the last decades, counting on training levels “never before reached” and each time “we have access to more positions that were previously forbidden to us”. “We are proud to live in the rural environmentBut we are not satisfied with doing it with less services and rights with respect to women who live in cities ”.

He also insisted that “Despite the progress” inequalities between men and women remain in force, hence the celebration of Rural Women’s Day is still necessary and a just demand “For the demolition of the glass ceilings, the recognition of the female talent of rural society, entrepreneurship, shared ownership, personal conciliation and joint responsibility”.

María José Fernández explained that it is a free festival to which “all people who wish to enjoy good music, referred to and interpreted by women, are invited.” In fact ehe musical group ‘Vulva Loo’ will offer a selection of songs in tribute to women who have fought and are fighting for effective equality, such as Aretha Franklin or Celia Cruz, and approaching rhythms as disparate as punk or reggae.
