A historic Royal Wedding has just been held in Russia. A man descended from the Russian Emperor marries a non-royal woman from a different country. This is the story.
The descendants of the Tsar Romanov dynasty held the first royal wedding in 100 years. Grand Duke George Mikhailovich Romanov (40) married his fiancée Rebecca Bettarini (39), who is Italian.
The wedding was held at St. Isaac. located in the former imperial capital of Russia, St. Petersburg on Friday (1/10/2021). The ceremony, which was held in an Orthodox religion, was attended by priests and 1,500 guests. There are about 50 nobles from European countries including Belgium, Bulgaria, and Naples.
The groom, Grand Duke George Mikhailovich Romanov, is part of the former Russian royal family. His mother, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna is the self-proclaimed heir to the throne of the Russian empire.

George Mikhailovich was also the great-grandson of Nicholas II, the Russian tsar who last ruled there. It was in that city, his family ruled until 1917 when the Russian Revolution began and Vladimir Lenin seized power, establishing the world’s first communist state.
Russian Royal Wedding Couple Love Story
George Mikhailovich Romanov once revealed a bit of his love story with Rebecca Bettarini in an interview with Russian media, Gente, in early 2021. George said he and Rebecca were never really friends at first even though at that time they had friends who knew each other.

“We have the same friends. But it all started when he and I attended an event at the French Embassy in Brussels (Belgium-ed), about 10 years ago,” said George.
At the meeting, George and Rebecca talked about various topics. They realized they had a lot in common in various topics of conversation.
