Gloria Estefan (64) announced this week that she was sexually abused as a child by a music teacher. The man was also a relative of hers.

“He was in a position of power because my mother had signed me up at his music school. He immediately told her how talented I was and that I needed special attention. My mother was happy that he focused on me so much,” the Cuban-American singer said on Facebook.
When the man realized that the singer wanted to tell the facts to others, he told the singer that he would “kill her mother”. Her mother was eventually informed and the police were called in. But he advised against making an official complaint because of the trauma that Estefan might experience by testifying against the abuser. (tove)
