Prevent Infectious and Non-Communicable Diseases, Ministry of Health Collaborates with Pfizer : Okezone Lifestyle

FROM During the pandemic, it is not only Covid-19 that must be watched out for, but also other dangerous diseases. Therefore, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) often promotes healthy living to prevent someone from falling ill.

Therefore, the Ministry of Health also cooperates with PT Pfizer, as one of the drug manufacturers. Indeed, Pfizer is also known as a producer of Covid-19 vaccines, although initially many medicines made by Pfizer have entered Indonesia.

“The collaborative effort is to increase promotive and preventive health measures as part of the effort to realize a Healthy Indonesia,” explained the Ministry of Health’s official report on the Sehatnegeriku page, Saturday (2/10/2021).

A memorandum of understanding was issued to strengthen the collaboration mission. Signed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha and the Policy and Public Affairs Director of PT Pfizer Indonesia, Bambang Chriswanto, this step is expected to produce good things for the people of Indonesia.

This memorandum of understanding includes efforts to improve health promotion through community empowerment, communication, information and education in the prevention and control of pneumonia; metastatic breast cancer and lung cancer; benefits of immunization for the community.

Then, increase the assessment and development of health biotechnology education ecosystems; capacity building of human resources; and other health fields.

Secretary General Kunta said, in an effort to overcome various public health problems, partnerships with various parties, including private partners, are needed. In this regard, between the Ministry of Health and PT. Pfizer Indonesia agreed to work together in order to realize increased promotive and preventive efforts in order to realize a Healthy Indonesia.

“We believe that synergies and collaborations that have been agreed in good faith are for the benefit of the Indonesian people, taking into account the aspects of harmony, anticipation and transparency, which are expected to be able to solve the problems faced together,” he said.

Policy and Public Affairs Director of PT Pfizer Indonesia, Bambang Chriswanto, added that his party will implement the agreement as well as possible.

“We are honored for the trust given by the Indonesian Ministry of Health to cooperate in supporting part of the promotive and preventive programs according to our field, which we will carry out as well as possible over the next three years,” said Bambang.

Furthermore, the Deputy Ambassador of the United States to Indonesia, Michael F. Kleine, expressed his appreciation and support for the establishment of this collaboration. “This agreement underscores the importance of joint efforts by the private corporate sector and the Indonesian government to help improve the health of many people,” added Michael.

To strengthen health infrastructure, Pfizer will also enhance the assessment and development of the health biotechnology education ecosystem through current education initiatives, increase human resource capacity in the health sector through training support, and increase skills and knowledge, as well as in other health areas.

“Considering the above conditions, the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Pfizer in promotive and preventive programs is expected to encourage the creation of a Healthy Indonesia,” said Bambang.
