Sony adds Game Trial feature for PlayStation 5 games

Wonderful hobby, that gaming, but sometimes a bit on the pricey side. De Wacht often hesitates when purchasing a game, because he does not know whether that game is really something for him. Sometimes you want to take care of a game before you spend your hard-earned money on the entire product. Fortunately, Sony has created something for that, because you can now download a Game Trial with various games on the PlayStation Store!

De Wacht hears you thinking: “just a demo, then?”. Well, yes, in principle yes. Only this function from Sony works slightly differently than we are used to from the demos from the past. Instead of a certain level, you can play the games in question for a certain number of hours. At the time of writing, the feature is only available in the UK, and only the Death Stranding and Sackboy: A Big Adventure games have a corresponding option. The feature is limited to one download per game per account, but trophies earned will be included if you decide to purchase the full game after the trial.

However, there is also a catch, or let’s say a big python. Sony has chosen that your limited time already starts when you hit the ‘download’ button. That is disastrous for people without access to a NASA connection, because this way you lose half of your 6 precious hours in Death Stranding just the download. Hopefully Sony will fix this when the feature rolls out globally. In addition, if many more games get a trial option, this is a function that will save a lot of headaches in the future, according to De Wacht!
