The ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia (GM-DG) party won today’s local elections for local government in Georgia with 47.6% of the vote. This is shown by data from the exit poll of the TV channel “Imedi”, quoted by TASS, BTA reported.

It is followed by the United National Movement (UNM) party of former President Mikheil Saakashvili, who was arrested yesterday on his return to the country. Former Prime Minister Giorgi Gaharia’s For Georgia party came in third with 6.8 per cent support.

According to the exit poll of Mtavari Arhi TV, GM-DG received 38.6 percent, END – 33 and “For Georgia” – 7.6 percent. TV channel “Formula” forecasts 46% for the ruling party, and for END and “For Georgia” 33 and 6 percent, respectively.

The exit poll of “Imedi” shows that the current mayor of Tbilisi Kaha Kaladze, a famous football player in the past, played for the Italian team “Milan”, was re-elected with 51.3% of the vote. The other two TV stations predict a second round between the ruling Kaladze and his opponent from the END, Nika Melia.
