Demand increases, entrepreneurs are optimistic that the manufacturing sector will continue to stretch

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Indonesia’s manufacturing index returned to expansion levels in September 2021. Manufacturing industry entrepreneurs are optimistic that manufacturing performance will continue to show improvement. Moreover, in the midst of economic and health conditions that have begun to improve.

Secretary General of the Aromatic Olefins and Plastics Industry Association (Inaplas) Fajar Budiono said this was supported by the increasing public demand for processing industrial products.

“From the side demand (request) is okay. From the production side, we can already do work from office (WFO) with more quotas,” said Fajar to Kontan.co.id, Friday (1/10).

In addition, orders for plastic products for tourism and party purposes have also begun to be seen. Moreover, the government will open the tourism sector and allow parties in the near future.

From the export side, Fajar sees the processing industry has an opportunity to increase its exports, in the midst of the electricity crisis in China. According to him, Indonesia can take momentum from here.

“Indonesia can start to enter the markets left by China. The government must be able to take advantage of this momentum by providing facilities,” he added.

The facilities in question are, among other things, related to containers and also related to goods transporting ships. The reason is, even now regarding these two, the processing industry players are still experiencing problems.
