The situation in Saxony is very different from region to region. In the Erzgebirgskreis the incidence is now 104.5, in Central Saxony it is 96.2. The lowest values are recorded in northern Saxony (27.3) and the Vogtlandkreis (36.2). Of the large cities, Dresden (61.7) has the highest value, followed by Chemnitz (46.6) and Leipzig (40.0).

In the future, in addition to the incidence of new infections, other values such as the number of hospital admissions are to be taken more into account when deciding on corona measures. According to the Ministry of Health, 129 Covid patients are currently being treated in the normal wards in the Saxon clinics. 39 other patients with a severe corona infection are in an intensive care unit (as of October 1, 2021, 1:30 p.m.).

According to the RKI intensive care register, 19 of them are so seriously ill that they have to be ventilated (as of October 2, 2021, 2:15 p.m.). The 7-day incidence of hospitalization is 1.04, which is below the seven mark, from which the warning level takes effect.

Advance warning and overload level
In addition to the incidence values, the new protection ordinance provides for a warning level and an overload level due to bed occupancy in the Saxon clinics. The warning level now applies if the 7-day incidence of hospitalizations is at least seven and 650 beds in the normal ward or if the 7-day incidence of hospitalizations is at least seven and 180 beds in the intensive care unit are occupied by Covid 19 patients .
The overload level is reached when the 7-day incidence of hospitalizations is at least 12 and 1,300 beds in the normal ward or if the 7-day incidence of hospitalizations is at least 12 and 420 beds in the intensive care unit are occupied by Covid-19 patients . As with the incidence values, the 5 + 2 rule also applies to bed occupancy and the 7-day incidence of hospitalizations.
