Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had problems with his hamstring and has not been available in recent matches in Serie A. In addition, the forward missed Tuesday’s meeting between his Milan and Atlético Madrid in the Champions League.
The Swedish Football Association now announces that “Ibra” will miss the upcoming national team gathering.
– Unfortunately, Zlatan is not so far ahead in his rehabilitation that he can be part of the upcoming collection. Sad for us and also sad for Zlatan of course, says the men’s national team’s national team captain Janne Andersson in a comment on the association’s website.
The replacement for Ibrahimovic is striker Viktor Gyökeres.
– We have followed Viktor in recent years and know that he is a good football player. He did well when we had him on the January tour in 2019 and he has done very well in England lately. I look forward to seeing him in our environment, says Andersson.
Gyökeres plays everyday in the Championship team Coventry after being bought out of the Premier League team Brighton before this season. So far, he has scored nine goals in eleven league games. The last two hits came as late as earlier on Saturday.
After the miserable loss in Athens against Greece, double World Cup qualifiers await Sweden. Next Saturday, Janne Andersson’s national team will first face Kosovo, and a few days later will face Greece. Both matches are played at Friends Arena.
