Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2017, but in August he rehearsed with Lady Gaga for their concerts at Radio City Musical Hall. The two artists had already worked together in the past, but their musical collaboration went a lot differently this time. According to Lady Gaga, she had to communicate with Tony in a different way. She did this by asking simple questions, among other things. “If I asked him, ‘Tony, would you sing ‘Love for Sale’?’ he would immediately say yes. But if I were to ask, ‘Do you want ‘Love for Sale’ or ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got That Swing?’ singing’ then it is already a lot more difficult for him to react correctly.”
