Chelsea enters the 2021/2022 season with high expectations following last season’s success and activity in the transfer market. Thomas Tuchel admitted his team was trapped by expectations.
Chelsea is predicted to be one of the favorites to win this season, both in the Premier League and Champions League. Their success in winning the Champions League last season and the arrival of Romelu Lukaku made the Blues placed as seed.
However, Chelsea have recently shown signs of being tired of competing in more than one competition. Thomas Tuchel’s men have lost in a row in their last two matches in all competitions.

Thomas Tuchel admits his players have struggled to manage the expectations that have come at Chelsea following last season’s success.
“I feel like the team is a little bit trapped by expectations. I don’t know why. Maybe by our success, maybe because of the expectations that come with success. We need to get rid of it and it’s important that we focus and succeed now,” said Tuchel as quoted by Antara. ESPN.
“Yes, they need to accept this expectation, but at the same time get rid of it and be the best to be the important player we want. Every moment is a crucial moment. We will insist.”
“We will try to help and the players have to show it at the end. This is their game, their moment that they have to maximize and respect,” he said.
