The chairman of the Supreme Court of Cassation, Lozan Panov, will most likely be nominated for president by an initiative committee, backed by Democratic Bulgaria, Dnevnik sources confirmed.
The committee is being set up by the Justice for Everyone initiative, and its registration with the Central Election Commission is expected to be on Monday, when the deadline is.
There is no decision on a candidate for vice president, but a woman will probably be nominated for the post, Dnevnik sources claim.
This will be the third presidential candidate nominated by an initiative committee after Rumen Radev, backed by the BSP, “There are such people”, “Stand up. BG! We are coming!”, “We continue the change” and ABC and Prof. Ognyan Gerdjikov , behind which so far stands only GERB.
So far, Democratic Bulgaria has not given a clear answer as to whether they will have a presidential candidate, as there was unofficial information that an option is being discussed not to run, but to focus on the parliamentary elections. According to unofficial information, Panov’s candidacy was discussed with representatives of the union.
In the program “The Day” with Veselin Dremdzhiev, the former MP from “Democratic Bulgaria” Ivaylo Mirchev announced that if Panov’s candidacy is nominated, the collective bodies of the union and parties in it will have to make a decision because they “do not have a man on the couch or in the jeep to say “.
Lozan Panov’s term expires in February next year. In order to run for president, he must resign before the Supreme Judicial Council, Mediapool writes. The deadline for registration of candidates is October 12.
A week ago, in an interview with BTV, when asked if he would be a candidate for president of Democratic Bulgaria, Panov announced: “With the way I express myself, the different opinion I stand for, I am not convinced that any political formation , I represent, I am attractive to them “.
