Bohemia Energy ends in Slovakia! The rise in prices is to blame!

An alternative supplier of electricity and natural gas, Slovakia Energy from the Bohemia Energy group, is ending up on the Slovak market. The company justified this in the announcement by the development of wholesale energy prices, which have been rising significantly in the recent period, as well as by state price regulation.

With 1.23 million customers and annual revenues of CZK 23 billion, the Bohemia Energy Group is the largest group of alternative energy suppliers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. According to the annual report of the Slovak energy regulatory authority ÚRSO, Slovakia Energy had a 2% share in gas supplies in Slovakia last year. In the household sector alone, its share of gas and electricity supplies reached around six percent.

Slovakia Energy informed its clients that their contract on the supply of electricity or gas will expire at the end of October at the latest. Customers can choose a new supplier, or the supply will be legally taken over by designated companies, which are the largest players in the market.

“The pressure to switch to emission-free energy sources, speculation with emission allowances, a long winter and the expected increase in consumption due to the development of electromobility push energy prices sharply upwards in wholesale markets. Due to the regulated market, it is not possible company.

ÚRSO in Slovakia regulates energy prices for households and small businesses.

According to an earlier estimate by the Slovak Ministry of Economy, the country’s households could become more expensive by about ten percent next year. Customers are also expected to pay extra for gas. Representatives of the governing coalition have already stated that they are preparing measures to compensate for higher energy prices.
