Gunshots in Montreal-North on July 2 | 29-year-old man arrested

A 29-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with the shots fired on July 2 in Montreal-North. The suspect is accused of possession and discharge of a firearm, as well as possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, specifies the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

Ken Wesly Chery appeared at the Montreal courthouse after being arrested at his Brossard residence on Thursday.

SPVM agents searched a handgun and ammunition at the suspect’s home, in his wife’s vehicle and in an apartment serving as a narcotics cache in the Ville-Marie borough, said the police force.

The police also arrested five other suspects in connection with the trafficking of crack cocaine.

On July 2, gunshots were heard at around 6:40 p.m. by residents of Montréal-Nord, near the intersection of Pierre and Lapierre streets. No one was hurt. Ken Wesly Chery had been under investigation ever since.
