Sergas apologizes for the collapse of the self-appointment and will rethink the system | Radio Galicia

The manager of Sergas, José Flores, advances that they are going to carry out an in-depth analysis to avoid situations such as the weekend, in which the self-appointment system to request vaccination left thousands of young people hanging for hours. He also denounces that vaccination in schools and herd immunity are compromised due to the lack of vaccines, after the announcement by the Ministry that the new doses of Pfizer that Pedro Sánchez had promised in the Conference of Presidents will not arrive.

The Xunta de Galicia apologizes to the Galicians affected due to the collapse (thousands of young people between 16 and 21 years of age waited for hours to be able to have an appointment in one of the 25,000 spaces enabled) and announce that the self-appointment system will be rethought. The manager of Sergas announces in the SER that an in-depth analysis will be carried out tomorrow and changes are being made in the process.

José Flores recognizes that it has failed, and not only at a technical level, so it is necessary to rethink the system. “We apologize to all users who tried for hours to get their appointment. Tomorrow there will be an analysis with all the details, and that the technical part clarifies what we need so that it does not happen again,” he said, before indicating that it is “a problem of rethinking the strategy”.

After reporting that None of the new doses of Pfizer announced by Pedro Sánchez will not reach Galicia, and that the supply of Moderna is slowing down, Flores explains that they will be forced to reschedule the calendar. Vaccination in schools and herd immunity are compromised.

Thus, he pointed out that “the goals will be met depending on whether the vaccines are here” and added that “if there are fewer vaccines, fewer people will be vaccinated.” That is why he anticipates that the 90% objective will be reached “later”. In any case, he hopes that the situation “will be corrected and the vaccines will return to Galicia.”

Regarding the collapse in primary care, he considers inadmissible waiting lists of up to 20 days, and ensures that the solution is not only to hire more doctors. “
