Atlético-MG player is investigated by the PF for betting scheme

Atlético-MG striker Diego Costa was one of the targets of an action carried out today by Federal police from Sergipe, the player’s home state. THE Operation Distraction investigates a alleged scheme to exploit gambling, money laundering, currency evasion and criminal organization linked to the betting site “ESPORTENET“.

According to the PF, Diego Costa is suspected of being the funder of the scheme. Money changers would also be involved in the alleged irregularities.

In all, seven search and seizure warrants were carried out in five cities: Lagarto (where the player was born), Itabaiana, Simão Dias, São Paulo and Salvador.
