“I’m a wholesaler, I don’t clean fish.” Can you guess whose replica this is?
All fans of the series “New Neighbors” will probably respond immediately – these words belong to Antonio Resio, the character of the actor Jordi Sanchez.
What he worked until the age of 29, how he differs from Antonio Resio and what he advises young actors – read in the exclusive interview of Jordi Sanchez, which he gave to Lubo Milanov.
Lubo: Hello, Jordi, where do I find you right now? I know that you are preparing a very interesting project …
Jordi: Soon was the premiere of a Spanish film “Garcia and Garcia”, where I play a small role, but very pleasant. Now we have finished shooting a Hollywood movie. It’s about vampires. I had a great time with my teeth, my blood and my zombie eyes. We are currently working on a series with Jose Coronado, where I play a dramatic role. A character, a very serious and bad person.
Lubo: Exactly on your part …
Jordi: We can’t afford to make only politically correct characters, because that’s how we make the mistake of not talking about reality. There should be no censorship. I think if you don’t like it, you change the channel or you don’t go to the movies.
Lubo: Is it difficult to get into the skin of a character so different from you? Because we know that Resio has nothing to do with you.
Jordi: No, we actors like to play and change roles. Antonio Resio is nothing like me. Apart from the fact that we are not ideologically similar, we also differ in character. He is constantly moving, he is nervous … And I am calmer.
Lubo: What were your steps before Antonio Resio?
Jordi: I have a theater troupe and I write a lot of plays. We played them in Madrid, Barcelona and South America. In theater school, I always wrote a special role for myself. I did a lot of theater. I also worked in Catalan television. The producers of “New Neighbors” saw me there and they liked me. At least that’s what they told me.
Lubo: I will ask you – do you know anything about Bulgaria?
Jordi: Not that I’m going to confuse anything. You’d better invite me to spend a weekend with you and I’ll be better prepared.
Any: You are already invited!
Jordi: I know that many years ago my friends went to make movies in Bulgaria, but I was never invited. And I was left only with the desire to go to Bulgaria. So if you want to invite me for a movie, I’ll be happy to come.
Lubo: Jordi, what advice would you give to young people who want to be actors like you?
Jordi: I was a paramedic until I was 29 years old. I worked in a hospital. I was afraid of being an actor because my parents always told me that I would not make money and that I would starve to death. I would tell young people to try, to work, to learn. Now people meet me on the street and say, “Hey! I want to shoot in The New Neighbors, too. I tell them that I first studied 4-5 years as an actor. They have to prepare first and then try.
At the end of the interview, the actor also speaks Bulgarian
and congratulates all his fans in our country: “I love you!”.
