As the agency was told in the ministry, in the context of the active use of elements of the so-called “soft power” in the world, the Foreign Ministry is considering the issue of creating a separate department in the central office of the ministry. He will take over the coordination of international relations in the field of culture, science, art, youth exchanges, education and sports, the source said.
“It is planned that the new department will take over the development of the general policy of the Russian Federation in the field of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the definition of priorities on this track,” the department added.
In addition, the new department will be responsible for the preparation of intergovernmental agreements, monitor the implementation of international obligations of the Russian Federation and the implementation of state programs in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
Also, the department will provide advisory and practical assistance to both specialized state institutions and non-governmental structures, taking into account the country specifics and requests of the foreign audience.
