Just over a month after he began his military education, Danish Prince Felix has decided to discontinue his education at the Army’s lieutenant school.
The Danish royal family reports this in the morning hours on Thursday – and the case has been mentioned in several Danish media, among others Extra Bladet.
– The reason why the prince is now leaving the Army’s lieutenant school is private and the royal house therefore does not want to comment on the decision further, it is stated in the press release from the Danish royal house’s communication department.
Prince Felix is the son of Prince Joachim and his first wife, Princess Alexandra. After graduating from high school in June, Prince Felix began his military education in August.
– This is a tradition in our family. My brother has tried it and now I want to do it too. I’m not deterred by the fact that he did not complete. But I’m confident this is the right thing for me, stated Prince Felix in June.
For neither can Felix’s big brother Prince Nikolai boast a long military career. In the autumn of 2018, he interrupted his training as a reserve officer after only two months at Varde Barracks.
Thus, both princes have broken with the Danish royal family’s military tradition. The princes’ father, Prince Joachim, started his military career at the Queen’s Life Regiment in 1987. Today he is a defense attaché at the Danish embassy in Paris.
