The disappointment at the Pfadi Rauti and the Näfels blue ring was huge on September 12th. When the helpers were busy cleaning up the Freulerchilbi that early Sunday evening, the box office was stolen from a locked car by an unknown perpetrator. 13,000 francs disappeared without a trace. A bitter blow for the scouts and the blue ring, who carried out the work on the Chilbi on a voluntary basis. As a result, the youth organizations launched an appeal for donations on Facebook.
«The solidarity of the people of Glarus is great and we are very moved. It’s just mega », says Rahel Lampe, overwhelmed. She is the squad leader of the blue ring Näfels and president of the organizing committee of the Freulerchilbi. “So far, around 8,000 francs have been raised. This amount surprises and nevertheless overwhelms us. ” Especially when you consider that the last few times have not been easy for many people.
Orcs show solidarity
The individual amounts donated by donors range from 10 to 1,000 francs. “The joy about every single donation is equally great,” says Rahel Lampe. What the Näfelserin particularly pleased, however, is the commitment of the American football club Glarus Orks. “Tough men with a soft heart, apparently.”
The orcs donated 500 francs from the still young club’s treasury and also called for support for the scouts and the blue ring on social media. «It was a matter of honor for us. The two clubs are committed to the children and young people ”, explains Franco Landolt, the head coach of the football team, the motivation for the generous donation.
Learned from what happened
The income from the Freulerchilbi is used by the two youth clubs for various activities; from getting handicraft utensils to repairs at the scout home to excursions with the children. Much of it should have failed, reported Rahel Lampe after the theft. “Thanks to the generous donations, we can now almost return to normal,” she says, relieved.
Even if the 8,000 francs help the youth organizations back to normal to a large extent, 5,000 francs of the stolen money are still missing. «You are welcome to continue donating. Every additional franc helps us », says Rahel Lampe.
The Glarus youth clubs will also be in action at the Freulerchilbi in the coming year. And despite the big heart of the people of Glarus, Rahel Lampe promises: “We will definitely take better care of our money in the future. We learned something from what happened. “
