The reigning Champions League champions Chelsea traveled to Turin on Wednesday night to take on Juventus in the second round of the group stage. It ended in a 1-0 loss after an early goal by Federico Chiesa in the second half – and after the match, Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel was critical of his team’s effort.
– First and foremost, we gave away a cheap goal. Then we did not penetrate the last 20 meters the way we wanted to do. We had problems already after 15 minutes to find our rhythm in the last 20 meters, which I do not know why we had, Tuchel says to C More after the match and continues:
– We were too slow and if it was a 50/50 situation, we chose the safe alternative instead of risking at the right moments. Then we lacked opportunities. It’s not a problem if you do not concede a goal, but we gave away two great chances and a cheap goal – and then you can not complain when you lose.
In the next round, Chelsea will meet Swedish Malmö FF at home at Stamford Bridge in London.
