NEW YORK – A 16-year-old was killed in a shooting Monday in Brooklyn, police said, and apparently was not the target of the incident.
Authorities said they responded to a 9-1-1 call in Miller Avenue and Along Avenue in East New York shortly after 1:30 p.m., where officers found a teenager shot in the head and torso. He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The teenager was later identified as Cahlil Pennington of Canarsie.
Sources familiar with the investigation said the teenager was part of a group, but it was unclear if he was the target of the shooting.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway.
