This would be a “collective error”. At least 250 people would have received an expired dose of Pfizer vaccine in the Loire in September 2021.
In the lot, a hundred college students would be concerned, from seven different establishments, said the Regional Health Agency To France Blue. Namely the colleges Claude Fauriel, Jules Vallès and Marc Seguin in Saint-Étienne, the college Jean Rostand in Saint-Chamond, the colleges of Pilat and Saint-Joseph in Bourg-Argental and the college l’Astrée in Boën-sur-Lignon .
The problem would be linked to a traceability problem. The ARS specifies that an audit has been launched to identify more precisely the origin of this error.
No impact on health
The doses would have been thawed on August 6, 2021 and therefore valid until September 5. However, they would have been injected between September 7 and 21, 2021 in local vaccination operations in Firminy, La Ricamarie, Roche-la-Moliere and Chambon-Feugerolles.
The Regional Health Agency indicated that injections of expired vaccines did not represent a health risk, after making sure with the National Medicines Safety Agency.
Parents of schoolchildren have been warned, a new vaccination date will be offered to their children.
