A senior Biden administration official said the meeting covered a wide range of topics.

Sullivan, the office told Al Arabiya English, also met with officials in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the same day.

During his meeting in Saudi Arabia, Sullivan and Prince MBS discussed the Yemen crisis.

“Both sides support the efforts of the new UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg and agreed to intensify diplomatic relations with all parties concerned. The Lender’s Special Envoy will remain in the region to follow up on detailed discussions,” the US official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Sullivan thanked Saudi Arabia for helping evacuate Afghans at risk during last month’s US troop withdrawal.

Sullivan also welcomed initiatives to reduce tensions across the Middle East region, including the Al Ula Declaration and support for initiatives such as the Baghdad Summit held earlier this month. “Which brings countries from across the region to the same table to discuss support for Iraq,” the US official added.
