Regardless of the Covid-19 epidemic that continues to rage in France, hospital capacities continue to decline inexorably: a study by the Ministry of Health published this Wednesday, September 29, 2021 reveals that in 2020, more than 5,700 hospital beds complete were closed in France. A situation which could be explained by “the context of the epidemic” with “many double rooms transformed into single rooms to limit contagion”.

In the midst of the health crisis linked to Covid-19, still fewer beds available in the hospital. In a study published this Wednesday, September 29, 2021 and relayed by AFP, the Ministry of Health indicates that more than 5,700 full hospital beds were abolished in 2020. Precisely, the Ministry of Health justifies this decrease “a little more marked“than in previous years by the upheavals linked to Covid. a “ambulatory shift” who “could be explained by the epidemic context“underline its services, with”many double rooms transformed into single rooms to limit contagion“between patients. Another aggravating factor is the massive deprogramming to reallocate nursing staff to critical care services.

In this sense, data recorded by the Ministry of Health perfectly represents the new management of beds available decided by the directors hospitals on France : the number of resuscitation beds climbed 14.5% in 2020, reaching the figure of 6,200 beds. Same thing for hospitalization at home, up 10.8% in 2020, with 21,276 patients “who can be taken care of simultaneously on the territory”, explains the ministry. Meanwhile, fortunately, hospitalizations related to Covid-19 are down in France. Hope it lasts…
