MANCHESTER – Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand mentions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) disrespect Lionel Messi. That was when Lionel Messi lay on the field when he became a posse on the second matchday of Group A Champions League 2021-2022 which brings PSG vs Manchester City, Wednesday (29/9/2021) early morning WIB.
In that match, Lionel Messi managed to score his first goal for PSG. However, there is an interesting incident that happened in this match. As stated above, Lionel Messi took a lying position on the field to help his team avoid conceding a goal when Manchester City took a free kick.
This rarely seen moment may be unique to some. However, a different view was conveyed by Ferdinand who said that PSG it’s disrespectful to have asked Lionel Messi to do that.
“When Mauricio Pochettino (PSG coach) asked Messi to do something like that (lie on the pitch), someone should have asked him not to do that,” Ferdinand said.
Furthermore, Ferdinand said he was still annoyed with PSG’s attitude. Even he himself would be willing to sacrifice if he was in the team to replace Lionel Messi who lay down as a living fence.
“This shouldn’t have happened to Lionel Messi, you can’t do that to him,” said the former world’s most expensive defender.
