The song “Through Parallels” tells the story of overcoming existing boundaries – both external, environmental and man-made internal barriers – and breaking out, resulting in a new level, a much higher value and better version of oneself.
The single was also recorded by drummer Toms Kagainis, who played not only a drum party, but also various sounds created with countless household items, including a set of kitchen utensils, knives, a water bottle filled with water and many others that record inspiration during the flight. were available in the studio at the time. The single was recorded under the direction of sound director Valery Cherney in the studio “No Fuss Audio” in Tukums, as well as in the studio “AMFO Music” in Riga.
Rihards Lībietis says: “The original idea was to create an album just for solo guitar, using different techniques and guitar playing techniques. As the album material became more revealing, however, it became clear that this music required an even broader approach and complementing it with other instruments and layers. “Draw Parallels” was the first piece to emerge in the writing process, and audible guitar parts can still be played using just one guitar and a loop machine. Of course, the sound has been raised to a completely different level by Toms Kagainis with a very creative contribution from the world of percussion instruments, and Valērijs Černejs with inspiration to give in to the possibilities of studio experiments. ”
The director of the video, Jānis Romanovskis, adds: “Rihards sent me a music recording and allowed me a lot of free ideas for filming. After listening to the composition countless times, this clip came – a little about haste, a little about getting lost in the labyrinths. We filmed using the timelapse function, which is usually seen in gorgeous nature videos, but this time it allowed to play with time, compressing long episodes of filming in a few seconds. ”
The new album “Lines and Miniatures” with ten compositions will be released on October 26. This will be Rihards Lībietis’ second solo album of original music, which is ideologically similar to the musician’s first album “RL Elektronix”, which was released in 2015. Toms Kagainis and several guest artists participated in the recording of “Lines and Miniatures”. The album was created with the support of AKKA / LAA Author Scholarship.
