Araucaria Petrified Wood
« My job is a craft of art, in the sense that the material itself is a work of art. The real artist is Mother Nature. What I do is reveal the magnificent work of nature and try to sublimate this material even more. “
The Araucaria Bois Pétrifié was created 30 years ago. Having been immersed in this environment since childhood, Robin Guillon decided to take over his father’s business in 2017. It has been classified as a Living Heritage Company (EPV) since 2011.
Robin works with petrified wood, a tree that has mineralized to become a stone tree, a material that is over 200 million years old. Its primary use is decorative: it is made into wall decorations and coffee tables. These are unique and tailor-made pieces. The activity is very rare in France (there are 2 workshops) and in Europe. Living in Isère for a long time and passionate about nature, Robin is keen to introduce his workshop in Grésivaudan to make this material known to the general public.
