The Men’s French Cup started last week, with all sixteen Proligue clubs present in the first round. The shock of this first round opposed Pontault-Combault and Ivry, and it was the Pontellois who had clearly imposed themselves (29-23). Like Pontault, most of the oppositions in this first round saw the home team win; Massy or Cherbourg have gone by the wayside. Two clubs stood out in the first round: Nice, who had gone to win at Villeurbanne (28-31), and Tremblay, winner of Valence (24-28).
These two teams will have to repeat their performance in the second round, the draw of which took place on Tuesday and which remains between Proligue clubs. Nice will go to Béarn, to Billere, to try to reach the next turn, while Tremblay will move to Sarrebourg, who had taken out Besançon in the previous round. Selestat, the current leader of the championship, will receive Caen, while Pontault-Combault will receive Dijon. The four oppositions will take place on Tuesday, October 12 at 8 p.m. The winners will find eight Starligue clubs in the next round.
