Resident Evil 4 VR for Oculus Quest 2 will be released on October 21

In connection with the Oculus Gaming Showcase held in April, a new version of Resident Evil 4. was unveiled, now fully recast for virtual reality. The title has now got a full-featured trailer and with it also a nailed launch date.

The Resident Evil series continues to hold popularity but now it is not the eighth main installation that takes focus but it is about much older Resident Evil 4. This title will now make a comeback in VR version on October 21. However, only for Oculus Quest 2.

The developers of this version have used the game engine Unreal Engine 4 and claim that they have trimmed to over 4,500 textures for the new version. Not surprisingly, objects have also been reprogrammed so that they can be picked up and moved around with the VR headset hand controls.

The VR version also comes with a number of new features. As it is a virtual reality, the game will now be run in first-person mode and players can now choose between advancing either by “teleporting” or with a joystick. no longer have to rummage through menus to change weapons. The weapons the player picked up and took with him will be able to be picked up from the character’s body.

October 21 is the date Oculus Quest 2 owners can mark in the calendar if they wish to enter a virtual apocalypse. Whether this new version will find its way to other VR platforms in the future remains to be seen. At the time of writing, it has not been confirmed whether this is only a time-limited exclusivity for Oculus Quest 2 or whether it will be the new version’s permanent and only home.
