Former Hammarby striker Nikola Djurdjic, 35, joined Degerfors this summer and last week offered two goals in the 3-2 loss against Djurgården at Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. On Monday, he played again from the start when the Värmland team beat AIK 2-1 at Stora Valla.
Djurdjic left the pitch speechless, but ended up inciting the AIK crowd. The 35-year-old believes that he gave back after insults during the match.
– They insulted me the whole match. Then I had to shout them in the face. It was wonderful, he says Aftonbladet and continues:
– I was just waiting for the end of the match. The one who laughs best laughs last. It was great to be able to throw this in the face of the AIKs. I let them go during the match, did not react and then I had to give again after the match.
When Djurdjic met Djurgården last week, he was invited by the home crowd at Tele2 Arena. Then the attacker said that he was motivated by it.
– I hate them, so it’s always fun to play against them. I hate them, the attacker said then and continued:
– Before I left for China, we fought for the Swedish Championship gold and I think we deserved it. My best memory is the last derby against Djurgården (2-1 victory). I think the Allsvenskan needs it, a little extra pressure and hatred. I love what the fans did to me today. I enjoyed it. It motivated me. I have played a few matches in Serbia, the crazy derby, but the hatred I feel from Djurgården fans I have not felt anywhere else.
Degerfors is placed in 14th place in the all-Swedish table. Djurdjic is listed for two goals in five matches in the Allsvenskan this season.
