Make provisions for old age with little money

Mini-jobbers with their own contributions have two further advantages: As a statutory pensioner they can get one Riester contract and are thus entitled to the state allowances. In addition, they have a right to part of their salary for later Company pension and thus entitlement to the employer’s subsidy for this supplementary pension. So three good arguments for paying into the pension fund as a mini-jobber. But what does it cost and what is the pension?

The employer of a commercial mini-jobber always transfers 15 percent of the earnings to the pension fund for 450 euro jobbers. If the mini jobber remains subject to pension insurance, he or she has to compensate for the difference between the full contribution rate of 18.6 percent and the 15 percent. This co-payment is currently 3.6 percent. At 450 euros, that makes 16.20 euros a month, net of 433.80 euros. A small side effect: This increases the later pension a little. The German Federal Pension Insurance does the following calculations:

If employers and employees pay into the pension fund with monthly earnings of 450 euros, the old-age pension for an insured person in West Germany increases by 4.44 euros per month. In the east it is 4.60 euros.

For comparison: If only the employer pays the flat rate, the pension increases by 3.58 euros per month, regardless of the place of employment, whether west or east.
