British grandmother, the world’s first person to be vaccinated against Covid-19, gets a booster vaccine

IDXChannel – A Grandma origin English who became the first person in world who received the COVID-19 vaccine asked everyone to get a booster shot after receiving the third vaccine.

Margaret Keenan, 91, returned to University Hospital Coventry, in the West Midlands, where she previously received the historic injection in December 2020.

“I feel fine,” he said after getting booster vaccine to journalists and urged qualified members of the public to do so as quoted from Metro.co.uk, Saturday (25/9/2021).

It comes as the NHS reveals more than 350,000 people have ordered boosters this week, as the latest stage of the fight against COVID-19 is underway.

More than 1.5 million eligible people have so far been invited to get their booster vaccine. Margaret, a mother of two and grandmother of four, is reunited with nurse May Parson. May was the medic who gave Margaret the vaccine on December 8 last year.

As the first person in the world to get a COVID-19 shot at the start of a mass vaccination programme, Margaret’s face – known as Maggie – beamed across the globe.

In April 2021, he urged people to get a second vaccine and he is now lending his voice to an NHS campaign supporting the launch of the booster.

“I thought, for a few seconds, (they had to) go and get the shot because it saved their life; the life of their family, and saved the NHS,” he said.

“I keep saying this all the time, go and get your vaccinations.”

Margaret has lived in Coventry for over 60 years but is originally from Enniskillen, Northern Ireland. She just retired from her job working in a jewelry store five years ago.

He said he really didn’t know what was stopping people from getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

“There’s nothing to be afraid of,” he cried.

“You know, it (vaccine) also protects me in mind. I feel quite confident now, going out, places I never thought about before.”

“I’m feeling a little bit, not scared, but feeling really happy now that I’ve finished this and can be free, if you want,” he continued.

“I’m happier because I got the shot, I might be going out but I wouldn’t be too happy about it,” he admits.

Asked what his message to the public was, he said: “I’d say do it, go and get it done, and you’ll feel a lot better for it – I think so too.”

“When you walk down the street you feel different people, you feel very happy because you feel it will help you and help other people.”

Asked by reporters about her newly acquired celebrity status, Margaret told reporters that she has received many letters from some good people in several places including Japan, Australia and the United States.
