“Salazar’s Revenge” is the last part with Johnny Depp: This is how it continues with “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” – Kino News

Johnny Depp played in 5 “Pirates Of The Caribbean” films – and the pirate film series continues, but without Depp. We’ll tell you what to expect in “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” and who should follow in Johnny Depp’s footsteps.

Disney

Johnny Depp made Captain Jack Sparrow an absolute cult figure. Actually, something like this is pure gold for film studios – but actor Depp is currently more of pure poison. And so, after the recent scandals surrounding the actor, Disney decided kick him out of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Similarly, Warner said goodbye for “Fantastic Beasts 3” by Johnny Depp. Mads Mikkelsen will take on the role of Gellert Grindelwald from Depp in the “Beasts” series – “Fantastic Beasts 3: The Secrets Of Dumbledore” starts in the US on April 15, 2022.

In “Pirates Of The Caribbean 5: Salazar’s Revenge”, Johnny Depp can be seen as Jack Sparrow for the last time – and if you want to watch its iconic performance again, you can do so on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 8:15 pm on TV on Sat.1. Those who prefer to stream: All five “Pirates of the Caribbean” films are available on subscription from Disney +.

But especially when you see the latest part of a series on television, you inevitably ask yourself: So what’s next with the franchise? Is there anything else coming? You ask yourself that with every “Transformers”, “Star Wars” and “Fast & Furious” film – and also with “Pirates of the Caribbean”.

Two new “Pirates of the Caribbean” projects

The good news for all fans of the fun adventure series: Yes, Disney is working on “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” – but without any idiot.

To be more precise, the creative minds at Maushaus are currently working on two different projects, which should breathe new life into the film series – whether both will actually be implemented, however, is still open.

Project 1: Margot Robbie as the new head pirate

A new “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie with Margot Robbie: This project would tell a story in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” world, but not a sequel to “Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Salazar’s Revenge”. Perhaps this film will also start an entirely new series, but in any case it should work more independently of the previous “Caribbean” adventures.

Margot Robbie is supposed to play a wild pirate and basically slips in the footsteps of Johnny Depp. The script for the still untitled film is written by “Birds Of Prey” author Christina Hodson. However, nothing has been heard from this project for a long time, which is also due to the fact that Robbie is very busy (currently she is shooting the 20s drama “Babylon” with Brad Pitt, for example) and the pirate film is still at an early stage of development.

Project 2: “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” – as a soft reboot?

And then “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” is being worked on, allegedly also with a female lead – but it is emphasized that this is a different project than the one with Robbie. Other writers are at work here too, namely “Chernobyl” creator Craig Mazin and Ted Elliot, who was involved in the very first “Pirates of the Caribbean” film. The director has been talking to Joachim Rønning for a while, who has also directed “Salazar’s Revenge”.

This project could be a reboot, maybe a so-called one Soft Reboot – that would make it possible to bring back well-known characters like Orlando Blooms Will Turner or Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann.

But even so, a story would be told that is new and different enough not to have to explain Jack Sparrow’s absence in great detail. A new direction would be taken, so to speak – but there could still be connections to parts 1 to 5. “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” would then be a reboot and a sequel at the same time.

Not just Margot Robbie? New “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie with “a lot of girl power”
