Roma –
Maurizio Sarri admitted that he felt more pressure in Serie C than Derby Roma. On the other hand, he didn’t deny that the duel Lazio vs AS Roma it makes his stomach ache.
The continuation of the Italian League this week presents the Derby della Capitale between Lazio vs. Roma at the Olimpico, Sunday (26/9/2021) night WIB. This is one of the greatest duels in Italian football. Political background is often a spice in this duel.
Lazio this season is managed by Sarri, who has never felt how tense the Rome Derby. Jose Mourinho as Roma tactician will also have a new experience.
However, Sarri seemed to want to look at the duel against Roma casually. He even mentioned that the pressure was greater when he was in Serie C in the Sangiovannese match against Montevarch.
Sarri was noted to have coached Sangiovannese from 2003 to 2005. According to Sari, the duel had been going on for a long time and often resulted in casualties.
“What is wrong in the media is to think that the pressure of the media is the same as the pressure that a person feels,” Sarri said in his press conference, quoted by Football Italia.
“The match that put me under the most pressure was Sangiovannese vs. Montevarchi in Serie C, a rivalry that lasted for centuries and even led to several deaths after the war,” he continued.
On the other hand, Sarri did not deny that the Lazio vs Roma match was very big. Instead, he felt butterflies in his stomach, which felt like blood vessels wrapped around his stomach and intestines constricting until the digestive muscles contracted.
“It’s of course a big game and it makes you feel butterflies in your stomach, you can feel that sensation. It’s not an ordinary game, it’s more than that. It’s a pleasure to be a part of it and I would love it if we played it at 110 per cent of our potential, ” he insisted.
