[Vidéo] Anti-health pass demonstration in Nice: tense situation in front of Christian Estrosi’s home

This Saturday, during an anti-health pass demonstration in Nice, individuals gathered in front of the home of the mayor of the city, Christian Estrosi.

Dozens of demonstrators gathered in front of the home of Christian Estrosi, the mayor of the city, chanting “Estrosi collabo, Estrosi collabo!”. According to images posted on social media, the authorities had to use tear gas to detain them. A situation that made the person react on Twitter.

As a public official, having disagreements that generate provocations I am used to and that is part of the responsibilities that I assume. To attack my family home is unspeakable and illustrates the savagery of those who claim to defend a just cause. https://t.co/Eqlua8zZCy

“To attack my family home is unspeakable and illustrates the savagery of those who claim to defend a just cause. I will not give in to any threat for the good of the people of Nice and Nice,” wrote the elected official.

“Paralyzing the city center is unacceptable”

Wednesday, Christian Estrosi had asked the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes that all these anti-health pass gatherings are now static. “If protesting is a right, paralyzing the city center is unacceptable!” He exclaimed. A situation which according to him “is seriously prejudicial to the economic activities of our city in a context already complicated by the Covid-19 epidemic”.

The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, reacted to the incidents by supporting the mayor of Nice.

Full support for @cestrosi who was the victim this afternoon of an unacceptable attempt at intimidation.
Thank you to the police who ensured the protection of his home.
