Muhamad Fajri Adda’i explains how Covid-19 can infect people student in class through air. He analyzed the Covid-19 case in a school with a class of 24 students, without ventilation, and a teacher as the first Covid-19 patient.
“If you only use a mask (during PTM), there will be five infected students. Masks alone cannot stop the transmission process if prolonged exposure is room with poor ventilation. The process of spreading through aerosols can occur throughout the classroom regardless of distance because the air only rotates in the room,” said dr. fajri in his upload.
More dr. Fajri explained that if there are two hours in a class with a teacher infected with Covid-19, without any protection (no ventilation and no mask), then there is a risk that 12 people or 50% of students will be infected with Covid-19. However, dr. Fajri appealed to the public not to worry, the transmission of Covid-19 can still be minimized in several ways.
“The risk of infection is very low, if everyone wears a mask, there is air ventilation during study either naturally or mechanically, and the duration of learning stops every hour (to fully restore air circulation),” he continued.
On that occasion, dr. Fajri also gave several points regarding the protocol for handling Covid-19 in educational institutions, including:
1. Coordination with the local health office in dealing with Covid-19.
2. Coordinate if there is a large number of absences at school.
3. Instruct Clean and Healthy Behavior (PHBS).
4. Postpone activities outside of school.
5. Clean the room and school environment regularly.
6. Conduct initial screening of sick school residents.
7.Measure the body temperature of guests.
8. Not dropping off or picking up sick families or traveling to Covid-19 local transmission countries
