Several residents of A Coruña have stayed on the ground or have had problems with their documentation when they had scheduled flights to London because the airport services have not accepted the antigen tests written in Galician as valid. This is the case of a Coruña family that was scheduled to travel to London on Ryanair from Santiago. To enter the UK you need an antigen test even if you have a vaccination certificate. It is valid for the pharmacy but the British government only accepts documentation in English, French or Spanish. In the end, a relative asked for the same certificate from the pharmacy in Spanish and they were able to travel. She explains it to us herself.
The newspaper La Opinion A Coruña has spoken with another Coruña resident in the United Kingdom, Iván Mato, who was returning to the British capital, with his wife and young son, after spending the holidays. They stayed on the ground because the airport staff did not consider the tests written in Galician valid.
We have spoken with the College of Pharmacists
The College of Pharmacists explains that antigen tests themselves are not valid for travel. The pharmacy issues a certification of results that was created to facilitate access to hotels and entertainment venues in Galicia for people between 16 and 38 years old. It is important, he says, to speak with the pharmacy professional to tell him why we want to use the tests. Ramón Saez, spokesman for the College of Pharmacists, stresses that the test certification can be issued in Galician, Spanish or English.
