As of this Friday the international information chain France 24, led by the journalist Vanessa Burggraf, is committed to a 24/7 programming in Latin America, with which, they seek to expand the French vision of doing journalism. In an interview with EL UNIVERSAL, the director of the channel shared.
“It is important to note that the difference between our channel and other international transmission channels is that France 24 is focused on French values, there is freedom of expression, freedom to report on any event and issues are treated with equality. It has a European focus on what is happening in the world and also in Latin America ”, he commented.
The chain has broadcasts in four languages: French, English, Arabic and Spanish, and now that they are expanding their horizons, Vanessa assures that one of the elements that has made this possible is the type of content.
“The most important thing is the great reports, we do reports all over the world and we constantly monitor the crises, we continue to broadcast the crisis in Haiti, the crisis in Afghanistan and that is our strength, to monitor the crises in Latin America”.
Burggraf has been part of this project since the channel was founded in 2006. Now, with a vision from the gut, it points out the importance of Latin America for them, so that within its 24-hour programming there will be not only international content about facts of world importance, but also information on French culture.
“We are interested in disseminating on the four continents especially their cultures, their policies that are not the same in all places, currently we are very interested in the transversality of all these issues in the four corners of transmission of the chain in Latin America and with the same spirit we are going to launch new issues at the end of the year. From now on, in the 24-hour broadcast, there will be 15-minute newscasts during the day, there will be a very important morning from 7 to 9 in the morning and there will also be a daily debate ”.
France 24 is made up of four global networks of continuous information (French, Arabic, English and Spanish), it has 98.5 million weekly viewers and its French focus on everything related to information. The chain is transmitted by cable, satellite, TNT in some countries, Youtube, etc.
“France 24 has really focused on the analysis, the description, the good editing of the programs, especially we have a theme of fighting fake news, we have focused a lot on this and that is why our journalists are very focused on making permanent presentations that allow an analyzed, edited, well done reality and avoid the proliferation of fake news ”, commented the journalist and director.
France 24 in Spanish is the youngest chain and began broadcasting on September 26, 2017 in Colombia. It is broadcast in 18 countries in Central and South America and the Latin American team is directed by Álvaro Sierra.
Among the programs that make up the Latin American broadcast are Aqui América, led by Natalia Cabrera (airs Friday at 7:45 p.m. from Mexico); El Debate, by Santiago López (Thursday at 6:20 p.m. from Mexico).
“French culture is a culture that we want to tell, transmit to the world, because France is much more than gastronomy, we have fashion, art, architecture, it is a set of many things that really make our culture and we also want to transmit the principles of culture French democracy, human rights, freedom, which are very important today, “concluded Vanessa.
