Carolina remains unbeaten in Houston

The victories are linked for the Carolina Panthers. Traveling to Houston to face the Texans, Matt Rhule’s men have won again (24-9). They continue their streak and now occupy first place in their division, with three wins in as many games. A first for the Panthers since 2015, the year they made it to the Super Bowl. Thursday night, everything started well for the players of South Carolina. After a 10-game drive for 88 yards, quarterback Sam Darnold had shown the way by scoring a touchdown on a 5-yard run (0-7). The visitors, ahead of the score, were never to be reached again. Because opposite, the Texans fell on a solid defense, and could not register a touchdown until the end of the second quarter, with a pass from rookie quarterback Davis Mills to his receiver Anthony Miller (6-7). The first points collected by the Panthers in the first period this season and also the only major action to be put on the side of Houston, who would no longer be satisfied with a field goal until the end of the match.

The Panthers improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2015. They have held their opponents to 573 total yards this season.

That’s the fewest total yards allowed by any team in a 3-0 start since the 1992 Eagles, who had Reggie White. pic.twitter.com/cZuKrteVhe

Les Panthers perdent McCaffrey

For the Panthers, the end of the game was much quieter, however. Carolina indeed scored two touchdowns in the second half, both in the race. Tommy Tremble took care of the first. Starting from seven yards, the rookie easily bypassed the opposing block to afford his first touchdown. Sam Darnold scored the second. Following a third attempt just inches from the end zone line, the quarterback did himself justice by jumping into the fray to score his third touchdown of the season. Unfortunately for them the Panthers evening, which had everything to be perfect, was strongly tarnished by the big black point of the evening: the injury of running back Christian McCaffrey. Hit at the start of the second quarter, the runner went out with a hamstring injury and did not reappear on the Texas lawn.. A blow that could prove detrimental to his team for the rest of the season, knowing that McCaffrey had already missed thirteen games last year.
