Ex-Allsvenskan player was acquitted by the district court

A former Allsvenskan player has been charged with taking bribes and gambling fraud. The player was suspected of having received a bribe of SEK 300,000 for taking a yellow card in an Allsvenskan match in 2019, but denied match-fixing offenses. At the beginning of June this year, the player was acquitted on all charges by Malmö District Court.

At the beginning of February this year, the player was also suspended by the Swedish Football Association from operating in sports on Swedish soil while the association was investigating the matter.

Now the Swedish Football Association’s disciplinary committee announces that the ex-Allsvenskan player will be suspended from all sports “for tampering and illicit betting “until February 2, 2025.

The player is thus now suspended from all sports in Sweden. The player may not “train, play or perform assignments within any association within RF “.
